MORE jobs will be created over the next 12 months at a West Yorkshire engineering firm which is on track to record three consecutive years of 30 per cent growth in turnover.

Metalworking firm Arkoni, which employs 52 people, is looking to continue its expansion after boosting turnover from £4 million to £5.25 million in the past year, with a full order book stretching well into 2015.

Founded in 1991, Brighouse-based Arkoni manufactures metalwork features and fire-rated glazing systems for the UK construction industry.

Mark Prentice, founder and managing director, said: “We are operating at full capacity and have been doing so for the past two years. We’ve increased our workforce and introduced efficient and robust management systems.

“We’ve also enhanced our manufacturing capability with the construction a new 1,600 sq ft workshop incorporating automated technology thanks to partial funding from the Leeds City Region Business Growth Programme.

“Much of the growth has been based on rapidly growing demand for fire-rated glazing systems. Over the past 12 months we have installed glazing systems in new schools, shopping centres, office complexes, leisure centres, cathedrals and many other locations.

“The figures for 2013 to 2014 were way above our targets. In effect, we are looking at a doubling of the business turnover in just three years. Long may it continue.”
