TWO new jobs, with more in the pipeline, have been created by leading logistics and distribution business Torque which has built a new technical services centre in Bradford.

The Leeds-based business has invested in the 400 sq ft centre at its Holme Lane site to extend services in the nursery products sector.

Torque,which has nearly 500,000 sq ft of space at Holme Lane and Cutler Heights and employs more than 200 staff in Bradford, says the state-of- the art centre aimed to provide clients with a comprehensive ‘end to end' service and would open up a new area of business.

The centre was commissioned and purpose built to the specification of Torque Omni-Channel’s head of technical services, Melvyn Wolff,, Staff will specialise in product care, including quality control, warranty repairs and refurbishing stock for re-sale.

Melvyn Wolff, who has more than 20 years experience in the nursery industry, said: “I am particularly proud of our state of the art service centre, designed to help fulfil our pledge to turn around any repair within 72 hours.

"Using the same equipment as found in the manufacturer’s factories, and with staff trained to the highest level, we can undertake almost all repairs in-house, ensuring peace of mind for our clients.”

Mr Wolff is a member of the Baby Product Association’s technical committee and sits on several British Standards Institute committees for safety and compliance for child safety. He is experienced in identifying liability of returns and able to quickly assess what is and what is not covered under warranty.

Torque, which has a £60 million turnover, also has bases in Wigan and London and a total workforce of around 700. It's operations include international freight forwarding, warehousing and fulfilment, courier services, transport and distribution, product processing and logistics IT.

Clients include men's designer swim and resort wear retailer Orlebar Brown,women's sports clothing retailer Sweaty Betty , business workwear retailer TM Lewin, US-based Gorilla Glue Company, Mountain Warehouse, Pringle of Scotland and The Dune Group.
