UPMARKET grocer Waitrose says it expects to create 2,000 jobs in new shops and by expanding existing ones.

The company, which includes a store in Otley, is opening 14 new shops.

Some of the new jobs will be at a new London depot being built due to rising demand for online grocery shopping and most of the planned expansion will be in south east England.

Nigel Keen, Waitrose director of development, said: “Our expansion story continues.

“We’re delighted to be able to create an additional 2,000 roles in 2015.”
