A MANAGER at social housing group Incommunities has won a national award.

Thomas Sutton (pictured), 26, claimed the Young Leaders Award at the National Housing Federation's Annual Conference in Birmingham.

At the finals, Mr Sutton made a pitch about the need to deliver more affordable social housing for young people and the importance of showing a strong social purpose.

He also made a personal call for the formation of a World Housing Organisation that could promote and address global solutions to global issues.

Mr Sutton was presented with his award by Communities and Local Government Secretary Greg Clark and National Housing Federation's chief executive, David Orr.

He was named as one of 20 finalists for the award before the shortlist was cut to ten young leaders and then the final five were announced earlier this month.

Mr Sutton manages Incommunities' Smarterbuys store which provides essential household goods through affordable payment plans.
