POLICE have warned people to be on guard against cashpoint distraction scammers in Keighley.
Officers have received reports of a man and woman approaching people using cash machines in Keighley Town Centre. The pair have then distracted them after people have entered their PIN number.
Police said their method is to wait until the PIN number has been entered and then to talk to them, or hold paper in front of them, while the other withdraws cash from the unlocked account.
A post on the West Yorkshire Police - Keighley Facebook page said: "If you are approached or interrupted in such a way during a transaction press the cancel button prior to engaging anyone in conversation and/or if you witness a scam such as this occurring please contact us via 999."
