She previously spent 13 years in investment banking, including as co-head of investment banking at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein and Partner at Gleacher Shacklock.

The British Indian Awards is a celebration of the commitment and hard work of those in the Indian community who have excelled in various fields.

There are a total of 24 accolades up for grabs, with other categories including business of the year, entrepreneur of the year and Indian Business in the UK. The winners will be voted for by the public.

The glitzy awards ceremony will take place at The Athena, Leicester, on Friday, July 15, and it is the fourth year the ceremony has been held.

Meanwhile, Appleton Academy student Harleen Kaur has been nominated in the Best at Sport category at the British Indian Awards.

She is a World Martial Kombat Federation World Championship silver medallist and an ambassador for the Asian Sports Foundation.

Yasmin Mahmood, operations director of awards organisers, Oceanic Consulting, said: “The awards have been a platform to many British Indians who are continuously at the top of their chosen fields.

“Our aim is to ensure their hard work does not go un-noticed.

“Through the awards it has come to light just how many non-residential Indians (NRI) as well as nationals have gained huge success in the UK.

“We hope the awards can highlight the success of many in the Indian community who are proud to call themselves Brits.”
