BRITISH Transport Police, responsible for railway stations and other rail property, had 283 officers to cover the North East district, which includes Bradford and surrounding areas, last year. Nationally, the service had grown to 2,931 officers from 2,835 six years previously, a period when most police forces have seen numbers contract.
