DESPITE making two arrests for public order offences related to last night's local derby between Bradford City and Leeds United, police have praised both sets of supporters as a "credit to their clubs."

The Bantams won the feisty Capital One cup tie 2-1 to claim a first win over their West Yorkshire rivals at Valley Parade for 82 years.

Match Commander, Chief Superintendent Marc Callaghan, said supporters from both sides "really embraced the spirit" of the occasion and thanked them for their cooperation and support.

"As you'd expect there was no shortage of passion, and the vast majority of fans were a credit to their respective clubs," he said.

"With just two arrests it shows the significant planning from ourselves, the clubs, and our partners has paid dividends.

"All the officers involved enjoyed playing their part in what was a memorable atmosphere created by fervent support from both clubs.

"It was a fantastic spectacle and I'm pleased the game will be talked about for the right reasons."
