A 24-YEAR-OLD man on trial accused of raping a teenager in his car told a jury she was determined to have sex with him.

Aadil Mahboob said the 17-year-old was "all over him" that night.

"I thought it was a joke but she was adamant that she wanted me," he said.

Mahboob, 24, of Edderthorpe Street, Barkerend, Bradford, denies two allegations of raping the girl and one of sexually assaulting her in July last year.

The church-going college student, now 18, alleges he locked her in his car on a dark street and raped her in the front seat after she had drunk vodka at a flat in Bradford.

She claimed she was "spaced out" and froze when he lowered her seat and removed her clothes.

Mahboob today admitted to the jury he had twice been to prison for drug and driving offences but stated he had no sexual offences on his record.

He told the court he and a male friend were drinking vodka in a flat in Bradford with the girl and her friend.

He had not met either of them before that night.

Mahboob said he was about to leave because the girl was loud and "jumping about" and he did not find her relaxing company.

He agreed to take her to buy cigarettes from an all-night shop and they set off in his car in the early hours.

They were travelling along Upper Rushton Road when she made sexual advances.

He said she was laughing and performing a sex act on him while he was driving.

He turned up a side street off Gain Lane in Thornbury at about 2am.

Mahboob said the girl removed her lower clothing and shoes and they had consensual sex in the back of the car.

They then got dressed and went to a Co-op shop for cigarettes.

He took her back to the flat and left the girls £40 for a taxi fare home.

Questioned by his barrister, Richard Canning, Mahboob said he had a long-term partner but also regularly had sex with a lot of girls at that time.

He had never forced himself on any of them and would never commit the offence of rape.

When he was arrested in October last year, accused of the offence, he said he thought the police were joking.

He had no idea it was connected to the sexual encounter with the girl three months previously.

The trial continues.
