A BOY, 15, raped a 13-year-old girl after pulling her into an alleyway in Bradford city centre, a jury has heard.

Bradford Crown Court was today told the child and her friend drank alcohol in a car park after both had lied about sleeping over at each other's homes.

In the early hours, the teenager, who was barely able to walk, became separated from her friend and alleges she was raped by the boy she had encountered while she was alone.

The defendant, who was 14 at the time and cannot be named for legal reasons, denies the offence, claiming he came across the girl after leaving a party and she offered to have sex with him for free.

He said that after they had sex in an alleyway in February, the girl demanded £20 from him and threatened to tell the police she had been raped.

Prosecutor Jeremy Hill-Baker told the court a DNA match linked the boy to the incident.

He accused him of telling "a pack of lies" about what happened that night.

The prosecution alleges the boy took advantage of a drunken and upset girl in Bradford city centre.

During the trial, the teenager, who is accompanied in court by his father, is being assisted by a Slovakian interpreter.

Mr Hill-Baker showed the court CCTV footage from the car park next to the Crown Court building of the drunken girl's friend and a 17-year-old youth supporting her as she tried to walk.

The three of them remained in the city centre during the early hours, but at some stage, the 13-year-old girl walked off on her own and the other two were unable to find her.

"It was then that she had the misfortune to be seen by the defendant," said Mr Hill-Baker.

"He came up behind this young girl, pulled her into a nearby alleyway, pulled her pants and knickers down and raped her.

"She was telling him 'no', but he took no notice."

After the rape, the boy is said to have taken a ring from her finger, telling her that if she wanted it back she should meet him again the next day in the same place.

The jury heard that the girl was found in a distressed state by a woman going to use the Bradford College gym at about 6.30am.

She gave the child money for a bus home and the girl arrived there at about 8am.

Mr Hill-Baker said it was "every mother's nightmare" when her mum answered the door.

"She was outside shivering, crying, wet and saying 'sorry mum'," said Mr Hill-Baker.

"She explained to her mum what had happened and the police were called."

The 15-year-old boy did not answer any questions put to him following his arrest, but in a prepared statement, he said the girl had taken him down the alleyway and removed his clothing.

She had obviously had a drink but she was able to consent to sex and had initiated it, he alleged.

The trial continues.
