POLICE investigating how a 70-year-old pedestrian sustained serious head injuries in a hospital car park have appealed for witnesses to contact them.

The man was walking towards the ENT department at Bradford Royal Infirmary at about 10.50am on Wednesday when he became aware of a silver Suzuki Splash reversing out of a parking bay.

Police say that as the vehicle moved closer it is believed there was contact between the two and the pedestrian sustained serious head injuries.

He was detained at BRI, where his condition was described as "critical but stable".

The car driver was unhurt and the Western Area Roads Policing Unit is now investigating, with anyone who witnessed the incident asked to contact them through the 101 telephone number.
