A 29-YEAR-OLD man who conspired to smuggle mobile phones into a prison and dealt class A drugs on the streets of Bradford has been jailed for a total of 40 months.

Imran Novsarka was caught with £7,000 of heroin and cocaine and £6,000 in cash in a Bradford bedsit.

He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to convey prohibited articles into prison, supplying crack cocaine and heroin, between February 1 and March 6 this year, and possessing crack cocaine and heroin with intent to supply.

He also admitted driving a Peugeot 206 car dangerously in Oak Villas, Manningham, Bradford, on March 6.

Novsarka, now of Aldermoor Lane, Coventry, was £40,000 in debt and began drug dealing to pay off loan sharks, Bradford Crown Court heard today.

His barrister, James Bourne-Arton, said he was at the bottom of the chain and being exploited.

He was an educated man of previous good character who acted out of desperation.

But Recorder Dean Kershaw said the trappings of a commercial dealer were found at Novsarka's bedsit, along with a significant quantity of class A drugs.

Novsarka had six mobile phones, sim cards and bags and scales.

He told the police he could make up to £1,000 a day.
