MORE than 1,300 Bradford City supporters took part in a world record attempt by wearing Christmas jumpers at the Bantams' latest home game.

The fans had responded to a request from the club to wear a festive top in a bid to break the record for the number of Christmas jumpers worn in one area at one particular time.

City believe 1,308 people took part in the challenge - the record was 639 - which happened at Saturday's 1-1 draw with Scunthorpe United at Valley Parade. The club is now seeking to get the record attempt officially verified.

The 1,308 figure comes from the amount of special raffle tickets handed to fans wearing a Christmas jumper as they entered the stadium. Those fans also stayed behind after the game for a picture, with one winning a season ticket for next season in the raffle ticket draw. The winning ticket was white, number 596.

Also as part of the event, the club asked supporters to donate £1 to bucket collections around the ground, with all funds going to Bradford Hospitals Children’s Charity.
