MORE than 7,000 Bradford residents celebrated one of the key events in the Islamic Year.
The parade, hosted by Al-Jamia Suffa-Tul-Islam (Bradford Grand Mosque) on Horton Park Avenue, united to celebrate the birthday of the Prophet Mohammad, also known as Eid-Milad-un-Nabi.
The procession was presided over by the founder of the host organisation, renowned Muslim scholar, Shaykh Mohammad Habib-ur-Rehman Mahboobi.
Sunday’s event also welcomed dozens of senior scholars from around the world.
During the parade, participants recited poems of praise, waved flags and displayed banners with messages of love and peace for all humanity.
The procession passed through the streets of Bradford returning to the Grand Mosque.
Mohammed Riaz, event organiser, said: “By peacefully walking through the streets of Bradford we showed that we are proud to be British Muslims who love their religion and country.”
