A HOUSE was left badly smoke-damaged after a pile of clothes caught fire after being left on top on an electric cooker last night.
Firefighters from Idle attended the incident in Rowantree Drive, Thorpe Edge, at about 9.30pm.
A fire service spokesman said one ring of the cooker had still been on when a woman who lives in the house had left some clothes on it before going out.
On her return, the clothes had set alight, causing fire damage to the kitchen and heavy smoke damage throughout the property.
The woman managed to put out the fire herself, and was not injured in the incident.
