YOUNG patients at Bradford Royal Infirmary got a surprise ward visit from dancers with the English Youth Ballet.

Stars of the ballet Giselle, which opens at St George's Hall next Friday, yesterday led a workshop for children who were well enough to join in.

Parents, children and staff have also be given the opportunity to go and watch the show's dress rehearsal for free.

It is hoped on its opening night, the generous audience will dig deep into their pockets to support an appeal to help buy 60 fold-up beds so parents can stay close to their poorly youngsters.

Hayley Collis, of Bradford Hospitals Children's Charity, said: "Having the support of English Youth Ballet at its debut performance of Giselle is Bradford is fantastic and will help to make such a difference.

"Today was amazing, seeing the young faces of the children light up when the ballerinas performed was just wonderful."
