THE organiser of a community music event being staged to replace Keighley's cancelled Aire-do has thanked the donors who have stepped in to offer badly needed cash.

Kaya Capper had been struggling to attract the funds needed to hold the event in the grounds of Cliffe Castle on Sunday.

However, she now says that thanks to the "massive" generosity of businesses and individual donors the event will be able to go ahead. She has also revealed the line-up for the afternoon.

The event is receiving £500 from Arrows Galaxy Taxis and Legend Claims Management Services, with a further £500 from Marshalls Amusement, £200 from individual donor Mark Roe and £200 from an anonymous donor.

Keighley's Jam on Top studios, based in Chesham Street off Dalton Lane, have donated drum kits and other equipment.

Miss Capper, of Stockbridge, a mum-of-six and fan of the original Aire-do, said she was devastated when the Keighley Town Council-run music festival was cancelled.

"I can now get things moving and I honestly cannot thank the donors enough," she said.

"I'm so excited that this is going to happen."

Miss Capper also paid tribute to everyone who had given smaller amounts online via the page gofundme.com/yjkyk8

"We're going to have a small fundraising stall on the day, with money going towards future events," she said. "Hopefully we can keep it going."

She has dubbed the replacement live music festival "The Aire Don't" and said the sudden influx of funds will now enable her to pay for security and toilets, as well as insurance.

Stressing the importance of holding a trouble-free afternoon, she said: "This is a family event, and although we have said people can feel free to have a drink they should be aware that our security staff will be advised to confiscate alcohol from under age drinkers.

"People should be prepared to prove how old they are.

"I really want to carry this event on for years and to do that we have to prove that it is safe."

The event starts at noon and is to be headlined by the groups Foxes Faux and We are Atlas.

There will also be performances by Rock Bottom Risers, South of Sanity, Wolf 359, Wilson and Sleepy Jake Seagrove.

An "Acoustic Cave" run by Bluefruit Promotions will feature a range of acts including: Nay Harrison, Peculiar Blue, Diamond Dac, Gerry Cooper, Danny Aspinel, Gaz Blackburn and Acoustic Crush.

Entry is free and revellers can also expect children's activities and refreshments.

Aire-do 2015 was to have taken place on Saturday and Sunday in Cliffe Castle Park.

Keighley Town Council called the annual show off after the departure of council officers left it without the qualified, experienced staff required to handle the event.
