A FIRE crew lent the RSPCA a ladder to help rescue a hapless bird which had become tangled up in its own nest.
The house martin was caught by its leg by a piece of string or wire in a house roof in Kings Road at Bingley.
RSPCA inspector John Greaves used a ladder borrowed from Bingley fire station to rescue the bird shortly after 9am today.
Mr Greaves cleared debris from around the nest.
A fire service spokesman said it appeared that the bird had been freed as it was able to move out of the reach of the inspector.
