A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD Bradford boy has landed roles on the big and small screens.

Jonjon Lockwood, of East Bowling, plays Sasha Baron Cohen's character's youngest son in his forthcoming movie Grimsby, and the youngster is also the face of the Sainsbury's Get Summer Sorted campaign - five adverts rolled out on TV, radio and in the cinema.

In the ads, Jonjon, who goes to Bradford Academy, plays a boy enjoying the summer holiday, dressing up as a pirate, Batman and a tiger, but turning his nose up at meals his mother cooks, until he tries the supermarket's quesadillas and decides they're fit for a hero.

But a fictional supermarket is the setting for the Jonjon's latest TV project.

The youngster is filming for popular sitcom Trollied, set in a store called Valco in Warrington, where hapless staff deal with daily problems of running a value supermarket. Romances blossom and rivalries fester on the shop floor in the Sky 1 comedy, starring Jane Horrocks, Mark Addy and Stephen Tomkinson.

"For me Jonjon is the best young actor I have seen at this age," said Matt Zina, principal of the Bradford-based Yorkshire School of Acting (YSA) where Jonjon is a student.

"He learns his lines quickly and engages in performances with truth, personality and energy. People can't take their eyes off him while he is acting.

"It's going to be hard to watch TV and film over the next few years without seeing this very talented Bradford born and bred young man!"

Grimsby, due to be released in 2016, is a spy caper starring Sacha Baron Cohen as a football hooligan forced to team up with his brother, a British spy, for an assignment.

The movie also stars Penelope Cruz, Mark Strong and Rebel Wilson.

Two other YSA pupils, Zachary Sutcliffe and Gabriel Palmer, are also in the movie.

And Zachary, of Holme Wood, also plays the title role in a new TV movie of Peter Pan, starring Hunger Games actor Stanley Tucci and singer Paloma Faith. The youngster has been filming Peter Pan in Luxembourg, and it is due to be aired on ITV this Christmas.
