A VET has said a three year-old cat is "lucky to be alive" after being shot between the eyes with an air rifle.

When three-year-old Dexter (pictured) returned to his owner's home at High Ash, Shipley, he was found to have head injuries.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Dexter was taken to the vets and it was established that he had been shot between his eyes, believed to be with an air rifle.

"A bullet was found lodged in his head. Dexter has received medical treatment and the vet has stated that Dexter is very lucky to be alive.

"Thankfully the bullet entered his body at an angle so it missed his brain. Dexter is now back at home and recovering with his family."
