A section of the M606 motorway has reopened this evening following a flood which caused long tailbacks for several hours.
The closure of the top end of the motorway, at junction 3, caused traffic disruption in the south of Bradford, with many adjoining routes suffering from the knock-on effect.
The flood water was several inches deep and affected a small area of the motorway beneath the bridge at the top of the M606.
The motorway had been closed in both directions between the exit and entry slip roads.
The southbound carriageway, which takes traffic out of Bradford, was reopened around 8.20pm.
The northbound carriageway was due to be reopened by 9.30pm, according to a Highways Agency spokesman.
Earlier, the Highways Agency said that the flood water was about 15cms deep by 6pm and the level wasn't going down as fast as had been anticipated.
A 'gully sucker' machine had been sucking up the water.
Earlier today there was around two miles of slow moving traffic approaching the junction from the M62.
