DETECTIVES are investigating reports of gunshots being fired outside a house in Bierley, Bradford, early today.

Armed police attended an address in Cedar Close shortly before 12.40am, after being alerted by residents on the cul de sac, who had heard two gun shots.

A section of the street, including the modern, stone-built semi-detached house, was cordoned off today and was guarded by officers in a police van.

Police said they did not believe anyone had been hurt, or damage caused, in the incident.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

A spokesman confirmed police are investigating reports of a firearm being discharged at or near a property. No damage was found by attending officers. The spokesman said inquiries had been made about the welfare of the occupants of the reported targeted address who had left the area prior to police attendance.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Swift, of the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said: "From our initial enquiries it is not believed that anyone has been hurt in this incident or any damage caused to any property. Clearly any use of a firearm is of concern though and we are making extensive enquiries to trace those responsible.

"We are working with local neighbourhood officers who will be conducting reassurance patrols in the local area.”
