A 20-YEAR-OLD man who led police on a 90mph pursuit through Bradford before crashing on a roundabout has been sentenced to 12 months imprisonment suspended for two years.

Sohail Khan was seen speeding on Thornton Road, sparking a 'blue light' chase up Legrams Lane and Clayton Road, Bradford Crown Court heard.

Khan, of Galsworthy Avenue, Chellow Heights, Bradford, smashed up his VW Golf when he went too fast into a roundabout on Bradford Road, prosecutor Clare Walsh said today.

Before then, he had almost hit a van, gone the wrong way round two mini roundabouts and crossed a junction at Ingleby Road against a red light.

Khan made no reply when he was arrested at the scene and gave a 'no comment' police interview.

He pleaded guilty to dangerous driving shortly after midnight on October 24 last year.

Khan's lawyer Simon Hustler said he had never been in trouble before and his hopes of becoming a taxi driver had been dashed.

Khan, who sat in the dock with a heavily bandaged right hand, had suffered severe injury in a recent stabbing attack, Mr Hustler said.

He was protecting his cousin in the street when he was knifed repeatedly to the side, back and arm.

Khan was banned from driving for 12 months and ordered to take part in a rehabilitation activity that included participation in the Responsible Road Users group.

He must also pay £100 prosecution costs.
