A ROAD had to be cordoned off by firefighters as they battled a car fire in the early hours of this morning.

The car, an Audi, had been parked on the roadside outside the owner's home in Spencer Road, Lidget Green, Bradford. It was destroyed by the blaze.

Firefighters from Fairweather Green station spent 20 to 30 minutes quelling the flames at around 2am, watch commander Peter Hanson said.

The fire is believed to have been started deliberately and is being referred to the police to investigate.
