A CREATIVE pupil has made a splash on water safety after winning a poster design competition.

Keira Page, nine, was chosen from 61 of her fellow pupils at Home Farm Primary School, Cooper Lane, Buttershaw.

Her design on water safety and the dos and don'ts in open water, including reservoirs and lakes, during the summer was picked out, at an event held at Bingley Pool on July 13.

She can enhance her own swimming skills after she won £60 worth of swimming lessons which she can use at any pool in the Bradford district.

Keira used a mixture of chalk and felt-tip pens for her poster.

This follows a talk from a representative from Bingley Pool visiting Home Farm Primary School to set the poster design challenge to the children.

Teacher Mollie McKay praised Keira for winning the challenge, adding it will enhance her own swimming skills.

She said: "I'm proud of her.

"The poster has the dos and don'ts of swimming in open water and how not to get yourself in trouble in these situations.

"Mollie is a fantastic swimmer. She has been swimming throughout the year and these swimming lesson vouchers will help her continue her progress."
