THE final preparations are under way to turn Bingley’s Myrtle Park into the venue for the district’s biggest party.

Starting on Friday, the three-day-long Bingley Music Live Festival will bring thousands of music lovers to the park to enjoy a mix of new artists and established acts that have been wowing crowds for decades.

And for the first time in the festival’s history revellers will be able to camp in the park - with all 500 camping tickets having sold out.

The stages have now been built in the park, with lighting and electronics to be added in the coming days.

Gates to the festival site open at 3pm on the Friday, a day that features Number 1 selling DJ Sigala, and a one/two of famed Liverpool bands - The Lightning Seeds, and then a headlining set by Echo and the Bunnymen.

There will also be a celebration of the music of David Bowie.

Saturday will be headlined by Tinie Tempah, who has racked up eight number ones in his short career, selling more than four million singles. He will bring hits like Pass Out to the main stage.

Other acts on Saturday include multi million selling Canadian alt rockers Barenaked Ladies and drum and bass act Sigma.

And after a storming set last year, founding member of Joy Division Peter Hook will return to the main stage with his band The Light.

Scottish indie heroes Travis will end the festival by headlining Sunday night. The top slot of a festival is a familiar one to them - in 2000 the band headlined Glastonbury festival.

Re-formed girl group All Saints also play on Sunday, bringing their repertoire of hit songs to Myrtle Park.

Andrew Wood, Bradford Council’s leisure events manager, said about 10,000 tickets have been sold so far, and more will be available on the day.

Changes to last year’s festival include a larger second stage and a new gin bar.

Mr Wood added: “The on site camping will really add a new dimension to the event.”

Forecasts point to a mostly dry weekend, with a chance of light rain on the afternoon of Friday and Saturday, with a damper Sunday.
