FAST-FOOD giant McDonald's has apologised after a customer complained about food and rubbish discarded on the floor of a Bradford restaurant.

The company said it had raised the issue of floor cleaning standards with staff at the outlet, which has the highest food rating.

The customer was waiting for his order at the Rooley Lane store on the evening of August 14 when he saw the mess.

Bread buns, various items of packaging, lettuce and onions were scattered on the kitchen floor.

The fast food chain has since apologised and urged the store to be “extra vigilant with their floor inspections and cleaning”.

“I saw the mess so took the picture,” the customer told the Telegraph & Argus.

“I will not be going back there for the mess and that I waited 30 minutes for my food.

“I thought it was disgusting, there was plenty of workers in there too and they were all standing in it.”

He added: “They were stood about doing nothing.”

In response, a spokesperson for McDonald's said: “We apologise to the customer for their experience.

“Hygiene and cleanliness is of the utmost importance to us and we have raised this matter with the team at our restaurant.

“The team at our Bradford Rooley Lane restaurant have been reminded to be extra vigilant with their floor inspections and cleaning, which take place regularly.”

It comes after one mum found strands of hair and a nit in her daughter's order at the Five Lane Ends branch.

Chantelle Gledhill and Myla Lingard, 4, had just finished her cup of Fanta Orange when her father lifted off the lid and saw a strand of hair and a nit.

Then she went to eat her Smarties McFlurry and noticed more hair in the ice cream.

Myla's father proceeded to visit the McDonald's in question and was offered a refund and two free meals.

He turned down the offer.

"I am really upset and utterly disgusted with the full situation," Chantelle said.

"I'm just so angry that my daughter drank this full cup of pop and there were things inside it.

"I don't know if she has swallowed anything.

"It has stuck in my mind.”

McDonald's has offered an apology to the family and said they have conducted a "thorough investigation".

A McDonald's spokesperson said: “Food safety and hygiene is of the utmost importance to us and we place great emphasis on quality control.

"When the matter was brought to our attention we offered the customer a full refund and have since conducted a thorough investigation.”
