A GOLF club has holed £5,000 for children's cancer charity Candlelighters.

Branshaw Golf Club at Oakworth raised the cash through a wide range of activities, including charity golf days and evening events.

Candlelighters was chosen by club captain Bob Laughlin as his charity of the year after his granddaughter, Isabella Beck, was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2021.

He described the amount raised as "amazing" and thanked everyone who had contributed.

Becki Marren, senior regional fundraiser with Candlelighters, visited the club to receive a cheque.

Candlelighters was established in 1976, by a group of parents and medical staff.

It provides emotional and practical support to the 150-or-so children diagnosed with cancer in Yorkshire every year, and their families, and helps fund lifesaving research.

The charity operates a family support centre, The Square, near Leeds Children’s Hospital, where families can access a wide range of services.
