BRADFORD’S two hospitals are getting ready to clink teacups this July to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the NHS and raise money for a local charity.

Wards and departments across Bradford Royal Infirmary and St Luke’s Hospital will be taking part in the NHS Big Tea party celebration with patients, where possible.

And Bradford Hospitals’ Charity will be treating colleagues on 5 July with tasty giveaways as a thank you.

People across the district are expected to take part by hosting their own NHS Big Tea parties on or around July 5 – the 75th anniversary of the NHS - to raise money for their local hospital charity.

Baggins the Bear – funded by Bradford Hospitals’ Charity and given to all children who come into hospital for surgery – has already started his Big Tea party with Ward 12 staff at Bradford Royal Infirmary.

Bradford Hospitals’ Charity director Sharon Milner, said: “We’re excited to celebrate such a milestone in the history of our wonderful NHS! So don’t take down the bunting just yet because we’re looking forward to celebrating this par-tea in style! It will also give us chance to thank our amazing NHS colleagues.”
