PEOPLE who live near walls in need of brightening up can nominate them for a new street art project.
Designed to help people feel more pride, murals and street art will be added to a number of walls across the Bradford district.
BD:Walls will work a range of scales during the next two years.
The application form reads: “The installations will transform the visual identity of Bradford and create a public street gallery that is vibrant, relevant and connected to the people of Bradford District.
“Do you want to increase footfall in your area and animate your local community with high quality street art? Do you have a public wall space that could do with brightening up? We are on the hunt for walls in Bradford for murals and street art.”
The project needs walls that are highly visible and in a location that lots of people travel past; have little or no obstructions e.g. windows, doors, or other signage; and located in the Bradford District (anywhere with a BD or LS29 postcode).
The walls also need to have a suitable surface for painting such as brick or a smooth surface.
Ssome surfaces such as pebble dash aren’t suitable.
Walls can be part of either commercial, public or private properties
You do not need to own the property to suggest its wall, however the project would only be able to use the wall if consent is given by the owner.
Once the walls have been shortlisted walls, the team will contact owners to ask for consent.
The deadline for suggestions is January 31, 2024.
