The WOW – Women of the World – Festival is touring the Bradford district from tomorrow.
The WOW Foundation, known for running WOW Festivals - the biggest, most comprehensive festival celebrating women, girls, and non-binary people in the world - will hold a weekend takeover on March 2 and 3, in conjunction with Bradford Council, before visiting schools from March 4 to 6.
Councillor Sarah Ferriby, portfolio holder for healthy people and places at Bradford Council said: “We are delighted to welcome the WOW tour to Bradford district.
"I encourage everyone to join the WOW Weekend Takeover as gender equity is discussed, inspiring everyone to make changes in their own communities through hands-on, creative activities.”
On March 2, Impressions Gallery and City Library will host a fun-filled day of family activities until 4pm, then a later event for teenagers and adults from 5pm.
On March 3 the tour will collaborate with Keighley Creative in Keighley for creative activities celebrating local women, girls and non-binary people.
The tour will visit a school in Shipley on March 4 with activities for pupils in the full recording studio on board the WOW Girls Festival Bus.
On March 5 the Bus will visit a school in East Bowling in the morning, followed by an afternoon session with MAPA Cultural Arts Centre, who will be designing and creating a mural that will sit in their locality.
The Bradford tour will end on March 6, with a visit to local schools in the morning, then an afternoon session focused on women and girls in sport, with a panel and taster sessions at Sedbergh Sports and Leisure Centre, alongside WOW Speed Mentoring with students from Bradford College and the University of Bradford.
