A CHARITY has been set up to help provide vital support for kidney patients in Bradford.

Rehana Kosar, from Bradford Moor, helped to set up the Bradford Kidney Patients Association (KPA) and has made it her mission to raise awareness.

She spent a gruelling nine months on dialysis before receiving her transplant, which she described as an “incredible gift”.

The KPA will support kidney patients in the Bradford district.

Rehana is a trustee, along with Sofia Tsanou and Michaela Smith.

The charity aims to raise awareness and fundraise for vital things to help give patients a better experience.

Rehana thanked her workplace – Tesco Express in Sunbridge Road – for their support through her journey as well as her daughter and family.

The charity has also been supported by Dr John Stoves, who is a clinical lead for the renal service in Bradford and Airedale.

He said: "As a clinical lead for the renal service in Bradford and Airedale, I have enjoyed working closely with our KPA trustees Rehana Sofia and Michaela.

"It is very important that we have a vibrant KPA, to ensure that patients are at the heart of all we do to support their care."

A raffle will be held at the end of April -  people should contact Bradford KPA for tickets.

This can be done through the Facebook page – BradfordKpa – on X (formerly Twitter) or via email at bradfordkpa@outlook.com.

Those who can donate a gift to the raffle, or assist in any way, are also encouraged to get in contact using the methods above.

The charity was at St Luke's Hospital today - World Kidney Day - and more events are planned for the future.
