AN uninsured driver has had their car seized in Bradford city centre.
Officers from West Yorkshire Police's Steerside Enforcement Team stopped the vehicle on Barry Street for a routine document check.
A spokesperson for the team said the driver was "found to be a foreign licence holder with no live insurance policy in place, having been cancelled by the insurer".
The car was seized and the driver reported for offences, according to the spokesperson.
It is illegal to drive a vehicle on a road or in a public place without at least third-party insurance.
The police can check on the spot if your vehicle is insured using the Motor Insurance Database.
If it isn't, they can seize it immediately - even if you then arrange insurance at the roadside.
Punishments for driving without insurance can include a substantial fine, points on your licence and even a disqualification from driving.
