WE'RE taking a trip back to Buttershaw estate with these archive T&A photos from over the decades.

Buttershaw was put on the map in 1987 when the film Rita, Sue and Bob too was released. It was based on a play written by Andrea Dunbar, who grew up on the estate.

Andrea wrote her first play, The Arbor, aged 15.

Not everyone welcomed the attention when Rita, Sue and Bob Too came out. These women (above, pictured in 1987) were angry about the way it portrayed life on the estate.
