SIR - Regarding the current position of Bradford Council's finances, it needs to be asked how much has been raised from the Clean Air Zone scheme and where has this significant amount been allocated.

It is not acceptable that the Council readily raises Council tax to its maximum amount every year. A reduction in the pay of the Chief Executive and the leader of the Council would set a better example.

Regarding Mr Cole's letter (( T&A, March 12), although not living in the constituency, I would argue that Mr Davies has served Shipley well and has consistently upheld traditional and patriotic values in contrast to leftist "progressivism".

Although not his constituent I have found him helpful when seeking any assistance. I wish him all the best for the future.
