BULLS under-16s head coach Richard Tate is back from Ghana having completed a tour with Great Britain Student Pioneers, designed to help grow the game in the country.

Tate was selected to coach the representative side to a warm-up victory over Ghana All Stars, prior to impressive Test wins over the national side.

The touring Pioneers were based at the University of Ghana during their two-week stay, which saw them stage various training sessions with local youngsters and schoolchildren.

The trip was designed to help boost a nation which boasts a seven-strong league, with teams featuring from across Ghana.

Tate said: "I would like to thank everyone who helped make the tour a possibility and the University of Ghana for their fantastic hospitality –particularly Sylvestre Wellington, Ghana's rugby league development officer.

"I would also like to thank the Pioneers for giving myself and the boys such a fantastic opportunity.

"We have all really enjoyed our time in Ghana and hope our efforts in helping with the coaching of the country's rising talent will go a long way to assisting with the development of the sport over there.

"I believe Ghana has a bright future when it comes to rugby league. They have a league already set up and are developing fast as a nation.

"These are exiting times for them and we are delighted to have played some part in it all."
