BRADFORD City return to FA Women's Premier League action this weekend with a tough mid-table match at Stoke City.

Although unbeaten on their league travels this season, City have dropped six points and are already seven behind leaders Coventry City.

But they should go into this one in confident mood after an 8-0 win over Brighouse Athletic in their last outing, their first defence of the West Riding County Cup.

Sarah Danby (3), Rosie McDonell – with two goals in the first two minutes – Olivia Thackray, Vicky Rich and Ann Wethe all found the net.

City's reward is a tie at Guiseley Vixens, who were emphatic 15-1 first-round winners over Gledhow.

Bradford Park Avenue saw off visiting Ossett Town 5-2 as four goals from skipper Sarah Huby and one by Sophie Mitchell sent a Megan Medley-inspired Avenue through to face Uppermill Ladies at Horsfall in round two.

Battyeford Belles' reserves crashed 21-0 to Brighouse Town, while the Town first team – from West Riding County League Division Two– fared little better as they lost 2-0 at home to unbeaten Regional League (South) side Farsley.

County League Division Two outfit Dewsbury Rangers, who had a bye at the first-round stage, make the trip to Farsley in the next round but could go the way of Battyeford.

In their last league game, Rangers faced bottom club Norristhorpe and surrendered a 2-1 interval lead at Wakefield Road on their way to a 4-3 defeat.

Among the other first-round ties, Tyersal went out 3-0 at home to Republica International but Keighley Oaks beat Leeds Medics & Dentists 7-3 to secure a second-round tie at home to Leeds Ladies.

While the Bradford City first team look forward to a second-round trip to Guiseley, their reserves preceded them with a 3-0 win in their Premier League (Reserve Section) game as Abi Brown, Chantelle O'Hara and Vanessa Holroyd supplied the goals.

They will hope to maintain their 100 per cent start tomorrow with a trip to joint second-placed Sheffield.

The City A team finally lost their unbeaten league record in West Riding County League football when, having been beaten in the cup final by Wetherby's reserves last season, they were beaten 3-1 by the same side in their latest Division Two outing.
