KEEPER Marco Silvestri is still the number one at Leeds, according to Neil Redfearn.

The Whites boss has given the Italian a major vote of confidence going into Saturday’s home clash with high-flying Derby.

Silvestri was involved in a mix-up in last week’s loss at Blackburn to follow a similar blunder against Cardiff.

But Redfearn, who is still chasing Huddersfield’s Steve Thompson to be his number two, insisted his confidence in the stopper has not been shaken.

Redfearn said: “The number of points where he’s won us games this season far outweighs the ones where he’s cost us.”

He did hint that there could be other changes to keep Steve McClaren’s Rams guessing. And despite sitting only two points above Rotherham in the last relegation spot, Redfearn reckons performances are improving.

He added: “We’re an unknown quantity for teams. We like to play at home, you can see that.

“There's good belief. I think they realise they've started to play well.

“I think the last three performances have been good. This game is a great one for us.”

But striker Mirco Antenucci warned that Leeds are not doing enough to sort out their current predicament.

“We can and we must do more because the team have the potential to do so.

“We have to find continuity and get ourselves out of this situation. But I’m sure it will improve soon.”

Striker Noel Hunt today joined Ipswich on loan until January 3. Nicky Ajose had earlier made a temporary switch to League One basement boys Crewe.
