STEPHEN Darby insists City must bury any thoughts of their FA Cup heroics and switch back to league mode.

Saturday’s clash with Colchester at Valley Parade is being billed as a triumphant “homecoming” after the sensational win over Chelsea and the club are hoping for a bumper crowd.

City have lost their last two league games to slip outside the play-off zone but Darby is confident they will be switched on again after the euphoria of last weekend.

He said: “That’s what we’re paid to do. We’re all professionals and that’s our job.

“Regardless of whether it’s easy to do it or not, we have to. There’s no choice.

“We’ve still got things to achieve between now and the end of the season and we really want to push on.

“It’s not a question of whether it’s easy. It’s about having to do that and we’re really looking forward to getting back to the league.

“We’ll enjoy the next round of the cup when it comes around but the league is what we are judged on. That’s our bread and butter.”

City face Colchester, Port Vale away and a televised home clash with MK Dons before the fifth-round tie against either Sunderland or Fulham.

Phil Parkinson believes the Valley Parade fans can play their part in helping them get back to winning ways in League One.

Parkinson said: “I remember the Notts County game two days after we’d played at Fleetwood and how the crowd made a big difference. It was the same in the replay against Millwall.

“Saturday is another one where we all know how important the game is. I’m sure the supporters will give the lads a great reception for what they did at Chelsea and hopefully can roar them on to three points.”

Parkinson has highlighted the fact that City will be marked men within the division for their giant-killing victory – a view shared by his skipper.

Darby added: “I’m sure that will definitely be the case. But when we were on our good run before that, teams will have wanted to upset that as well.

“Chelsea was a weekend that nobody will ever forget. I keep watching the highlights back to see what did actually happen.

“It’s only when you take a step back like that, then you really how well we played.

“For the likes of Fabregas, Willian and Hazard to come on at the time they did was a huge compliment to the lads. It showed Jose Mourinho can’t have been happy with what he saw.

“It was a magnificent performance and all credit to everyone involved. We did the club proud.

"It's great to have a home draw, whoever we play. They are two good teams - one Premier League and one who've just come down.

"But let's not talk about the FA Cup now until that game comes round.

“It's important we switch our focus back to the league and make sure we prepare right this week. I know we will do that.”
