SECOND row forward Jason Marshall scored a last-gasp winning touchdown to earn West Bowling a 26-24 third success against Queens in a brutal Premier Division away encounter.

It was clear from the kick-off that the once mighty Leeds side were intent on gaining revenge for the two previous defeats at the hands of Glenn Barraclough’s boys this term with a catalogue of late shots and general foul play when out of the referee's sight.

Bowling refused to be intimidated and took the lead when wingman Jake Green crossed in the corner. The hosts replied with a converted try but when their hooker was sent to the sin bin for using knees in the tackle, West’s scrum half Ben Heald spotted a gap to sprint under the posts and add the extras himself.

Bowling improved on their 10-6 half-time advantage when Green’s neat footwork earned him his brace before two converted home tries put Queens 18-16 up.

Bowling’s luck was in when a grubber kick bounced off a home defender into the arms of hooker Joe Lumb, who gratefully accepted the chance, and Heald added his third conversion to regain the advantage 22-18.

Queens prematurely celebrated when they crossed for another six-pointer with just four minutes left.

Barraclough reflected on the dying minutes, saying: “I was just preparing my losing speech when prop Nat Light offloaded to Richard Lumb, whose leg drive took him through four defenders. He found Marshall, who powered over in the corner. The kick didn’t matter as the final whistle blew for a great win in a massive team effort."

Victoria Rangers put a huge hole in Boothtown Terriers' DIVISION ONE promotion hopes with a five-try haul in their conclusive 26-18 away success.

Rob Stones, Todd Binns, Sam Thornton, Jordon Walk and Luke Harps made the chalk and Aiden Scully slotted over three conversions.

Wyke failed to trouble the scoreboard in the 36-0 loss at DIVISION TWO high-flyers Hunslet Club Parkside, while Queensbury A came back from their trip to DIVISION THREE side Whinmoor Warriors with a resounding 34-14 victory.

Bradford Dudley Hill and Wibsey Warriors are still searching for their first wins in the NATIONAL CONFERENCE. Hill lost 26-12 at Blackbrook in Division Two following touchdowns from prop Adam Jefferson and wingman Simon Sewell, who also added the two extras. Wibsey went down 38-6 at home to Hunslet Club Parkside despite leading 6-4 at half-time with a try and a goal from scrum half Luke Helliwell.
