SOMERSET gained a first-innings lead of 47 runs during a hectic third morning at Taunton and will be hopeful of putting Yorkshire under pressure during the latter stages of this LV= County Championship match.

Steve Patterson struck three times to claim a second five-wicket haul of the season, while home batsman Tom Cooper was caught behind down the leg side off Liam Plunkett for 99.

Somerset, replying to 438 after resuming today on 309-4, went into the lead with nine wickets down and were bowled out for 485 on the stroke of lunch as Adil Rashid had Jamie Overton caught at slip for 50 off just 19 balls.

Overton hit three sixes and seven fours in a 76-run partnership for the last wicket with twin brother Craig, who finished 31 not out.

Patterson finished with 5-70 from 23 overs.
