JER Lane are looking good for a third successive Foster's Halifax League Premier Division crown.

At the halfway stage of the season, they hold an 11-point lead, with hosts Sowerby Bridge being their latest victims by 17 runs.

Top three Chris Shannon (54), Wayne Cotton (50) and Raqeeb Younas (67) laid the foundations for Jer's 271-7 at Walton Street, and Shannon then completed a great day's work with 6-76, including the key wicket of fourth-placed Bridge's reliable opener Tim Helliwell for 87.

To make Jer's Saturday even better, Booth and Mytholmroyd, who are second and third, both lost again.

The most exciting game of the day in the top flight was at Triangle, where the home side's experienced last pair Dave Turner (17no) and Richard Turner (4no) saw their side to a victory target of 226 against Queensbury.

Jamie Priestley gave the visitors' innings some backbone with 92 and he was ninth out at 211, while Scott Osbourne fell one short of a half-century.

Triangle looked to be cruising it at 177-3 but spinner Amjad Ali bowled eight consecutive maidens and took three wickets as things suddenly got very nervy for the home side.

Southowram's hopes of a much-needed victory soared when Tom Belfield and Gavin Moody took three wickets each to reduce hosts Thornton to 39-6 chasing the Rams' modest 158.

However, their hopes were dashed by Rosses Soames (84no) and Parr (35no).

Sowerby St Peters beat visitors Northowram Hedge Top by three wickets in Division One's top-of-the-table game to stretch ten points clear.

Adam Stocks (91) and Keir Litjens (45) were the only Hedge Top batsmen visiting to make much of an impact and, needing 189 to win, Sowerby stumbled to 99-6 before experienced came to the rescue.

Oxenhope complete the breakaway quartet of Sowerby St Peters, Hedge Top and Bridgeholme after Scott Mawer's 50 not out gave them a four-wicket win at Low Moor.

Up to his arrival, bowlers had been on top with Taranjeet Jheeta's 5-64 for Oxenhope being replied to by Nick Wood's 4-45 for the hosts.

Old Town are off the bottom of Division Two after a ten-run win at home to Denholme Clough, whose Mohammed Asif had them worried with 66.

Parish Cup semi-finalists Great Horton Park Chapel skittled hosts Upper Hopton for 118, thanks to Paul Fenton's 6-28, in-form Adam Beesley then hitting 67 not out and Richard Hassall 33 not out in Chapel's nine-wicket success.

Steve Welch was Cullingworth's match-winner, batting through for 134 not out (16 fours, four sixes) out of 221-8 as his side just got the better of hosts Old Crossleyans, for whom Jack Hembleys took five wickets and Sehf Mahmood hit 63 in their 207-7.

Paul Gelder (6-54) and Tim Shackleton (58) combined to give Clayton a seven-wicket win at Shelf.
