DENHOLME arguably produced their best Bradford & District Evening League performance of the season to defeat Division One leaders Smart Moves and lift themselves up to second place.

Thanks to Charlie Davy (47no), Jack Hainsworth (32), Gareth Marshall (27) and Adam Smith (21), Denholme made an impressive 179-4 from their 18 overs and the bowlers then took over.

The decision to open with Andy Wear proved shrewd as he returned 1-17 from his four overs, debutant Jack Davison continuing the spin theme by taking 1-28 from four.

Phil Poole jnr, making his return after five weeks out with an injury, also showed what Denholme had been missing by taking 4-21.

Adam Smith had a good night behind the sticks with two stumpings and a catch, Smart Moves ending on 122-8.

Salem Athletic are showing why they are the defending champions after an indifferent start.

They won their fourth consecutive game, amassing 181-6 at Shelf, with Taseer Javed (52no) peppering all parts of the boundary.

Shelf, who had started the game in second, were then bowled out for 125 and have now slipped to fourth, only one point above Thackley, who won a pulsating game at Tong Park Esholt.

Joe Ollerenshaw (38) and Josh Brooksbank (36) helped to post a total of 143-9 off 18 overs for Thackley.

James Scott (45) led the reply but the home side fell an agonising two runs short of victory.

Great Horton Park Chapel's miserable season continued as they fell to a seven-wicket defeat at Thornton.

Surprise packages Mayfield opened up the Division Two title race as they defeated leaders Stonewhite.

Only Mohammed Jamal (31) could make any impression against an excellent bowling unit as the visitors were dismissed for 92.

Imran Khalid (52no) then ensured a comfortable eight-wicket win inside 13 overs to move Mayfield up to second, just one point off the top.

Indian Panthers are now third after a last-over victory, chasing down Shipley Providence's 140-8, with Haroon Tariq (47no) playing a match-winning innings.

John Breare's challenge has faltered over the last few weeks and they suffered another defeat – this time at home to nine-man Buttershaw St Paul's, who defended their total of 128-7 admirably.

Only Bevan Williams (50no) played an innings of substance in Breare's reply of 119-6.

Josh Butterfield helped to restrict Cambing to 117-5 but, despite a brave effort, Cross Roads & Daisy Hill ended their reply on 101-5.
