LADYHILL A were 27-3 winners over Whitkirk in the Naylor Premier League on a weekend where home advantage meant big wins for the hosts on fast, tricky greens.

They carded an impressive nine home winners, with Neil Simpson’s 21-8 the pick of them, to dent Whitkirk’s title hopes.

Shipley Club A were another team to suffer a setback, going down 23-7 at Littlemoor A, who had Nigel Roper 21-4 and John Armitage 21-6 on top form.

Phil Lister 21-2, Clive Austin 21-8 and Darren Clare 21-9 helped Clayton A destroy Cranmore, who face an uphill battle to avoid relegation after this 27-3 defeat.

Pudsey A played Brighouse Sports A last Thursday as both teams were in Yorkshire Cup action on Saturday. Mick Smith’s 21-7 helped Pudsey card an impressive 23-7 home win.

Wakefield won the Yorkshire Crown Green Inter-District title, defeating Leeds 186-173 in the final.

A total of 12 teams competed in a competition that lasted 12 hours, and questions will continue to be asked about the format.

Bradford were in a 'group of death' alongside Leeds and Huddersfield, but it was Leeds who progressed, while the Aire Wharfe suffered two defeats as Skipton progressed to the semi-final, only to lose to Wakefield, who were the strongest team throughout the day and fully deserved their victory.
