GUISELEY face another stern test at Nethermoor tonight when they attempt to bounce back from Friday night’s televised Vanarama National League defeat.

The Lions host Macclesfield Town five days after going down 1-0 to another former Football League outfit in Lincoln City. That loss for Mark Bower’s side brought an end to a seven-game unbeaten run but they go into this match above their visitors.

Guiseley’s BT Sports debut may have gone flat but Bower feels his side will be back to their buoyant best and are ready to show their home supporters that Friday was a one off.

They need a positive result as Macclesfield are just one point worse off with both clubs having played 14 games. The Silkmen have won one more, so far, than Guiseley but they have lost almost twice as many as the Lions.

While Guiseley have proved to be hard beat, losing just four and drawing six, tonight’s visitors have been hit or miss, winning five but losing seven with only two draws.

The West Riding County Cup gets in full swing with three first round ties involving local sides tonight.

Farsley Celtic will host their Evo-Stik Division One North rivals Ossett Town at Throstle Nest. The clubs have already met in the league at the same venue and the Celts ran out 3-0 winners with goals from skipper Rob O’Brien, Paul Walker and Nicky Guest.

North West Counties Premier Division outfit Silsden make the journey to Selby Town who play their football in the Northern Counties East Division One. Another tie that spans those two leagues with the same disparity in standings on the pyramid sees Silsden’s top tier rivals at home to Selby’s lower division counterparts Eccleshill United.

The competition got off to a false start at the weekend when Liversedge’s home tie against Pontefract Collieries failed to go ahead as the match officials didn’t show up.

The WRCFA accepted responsibility. The tie was moved forward to Saturday because both sides had no league game. This led to the allocated match officials pulling out as they had fixtures to officiate at the weekend.

The County FA admitted an oversight on their part as they did not reappoint new officials. They apologised to both clubs and their supporters.
