ALBION Sports assistant manager and head coach Pav Singh picked up one of the main awards from the third annual Asian Football Awards at Wembley Stadium.

Singh, who has worked for Bradford City and was the first Asian in England to achieve his UEFA A coaching licence, picked up the coach award.

He said: "I am very privileged and proud. I hope to continue to inspire other coaches and prove that anything is possible as long as you are willing to learn, get the qualifications through the appropriate courses delivered by the FA and then develop your experience through coaching players.

"You have to put yourself forward and make the sacrifices to get to where you want to be. There will be setbacks along the way, as I have experienced, but it only makes you all the more determined to be better."

The judging panel that chose Singh included Jermain Defoe, Graeme Le Saux, Steve Coppell and former Huddersfield boss Chris Ramsey.

Singh said: "I really enjoyed the night as I met a lot of my old friends and was on the same table as Jasbir Singh, the Gloucester City keeper. I've known him a long time and he was nominated for non-League footballer of the year.

"Paul Elliott presented me with my award and that was yet another great moment for me. It was a really great day for me and Wembley has been spruced up and definitely looks the part now.

"The last time I was there was when we (England) lost to Croatia in the qualifiers, when Steve McClaren was the manager. What a frustrating night that was – but my Wembley experience has changed forever now."
