WYKE Wanderers gave an outstanding West Yorkshire League display in their 5-2 Premier Division win at Hunslet Club.

Wanderers took an early lead through Ben Bodle's free-kick and they scored again when a good through-pass found Ian Horrocks, who superbly chipped the advancing goalkeeper.

Karl Fawcett made it 3-0 with a deflected shot and Bodle netted his second when he beat his man before firing home a great effort.

Hunslet pulled a goal back but Wyke were not to be denied as man of the match Bodle completed his hat-trick.

The hosts did pull another goal back late on but Wyke ran out worthy winners.

Wyke secretary Dave Ryan said: "Following our very poor performance the previous week when we lost 5-0 against Shelley, we bounced back and gave a great team performance.

"Joe Walshe performed well in midfield but everyone did well."

A young and inexperienced Wyke Wanderers Reserves side lost 8-0 against Hunslet Club Reserves in Alliance Division One, with the match played in horrible conditions including torrential rain.

Wyke goalkeeper Alex Whitson-Smith kept the score down and the young side kept going right until the final whistle.

Sibu Mayo was awarded the man of the match award for Wyke for his tireless work ethic.

Baildon Trinity Athletic had no scheduled match in Division One.

Field Reserves had a resounding 10-0 victory against Horsforth St Margarets B in the West Riding Challenge Trophy.

Tom Ponter led the way with a hat-trick and the other goals came from Matt Hartley (2), Kieran Suddards (2), Joseph Vickers (2) and Ben Baker.

Field progressed to the next round of the League Cup after their 4-1 win at Ilkley Town.

In another game spoiled by rain and wind, Field found themselves 1-0 behind at half-time.

But they dominated the second period and hit back with goals from Aiden Day, Dan Cunningham, Alex O'Keefe and substitute Jack Webster.
