RAIN late on Saturday morning wrecked all of the West Riding County Amateur League’s grass pitches.

Only three games involving the league’s teams were played and they were on 3G pitches.

The West Riding County FA Challenge Cup tie between Lower Hopton and West Yorkshire League side Brighouse Old Boys was moved to Leeds Road, Huddersfield.

It went the way of Hopton, who had Nathan James and Simeon Fletcher on target with a 2-1 victory to give them a quarter-final tie away to West Yorkshire League’s Carlton Athletic next Saturday.

Thornton United saw their progress in the West Riding County FA Challenge Trophy come to a halt when visitors Huddersfield Amateurs won 7-2.

Eli Petschak and Danny Walker netted for United, while Mathew Parker and Jonathon Crawshaw posted trebles to add to Sam Halstead single strike for the Amateurs.

In the only league game played, TVR United hosted Salts Reserves in Taylors Timber Division Two at the Zara Sports Centre.

Despite two goals from Faisal Shabir and one from Abid Khan, they lost 4-3 as Salts Reserves netted through Ryan Whitfield (two), Rob Barraclough and Richard Magson.
