YORKSHIRE'S unconvincing start to their Specsavers County Championship campaign has continued, with Lancashire striking five times before lunch on day one at Headingley.

The Red Rose county, currently leading Division One, reduced the champions to 74-5 inside 22 overs after opting to bowl.

Yorkshire, who have drawn four and won once so far, have reached lunch at 94-5 from 30 overs.

Kyle Jarvis struck three times in an impressive nine-over burst with the new ball, adding to wickets for Tom Bailey and Neil Wagner.

Adam Lyth fell to Bailey in the first over, caught behind by locum wicketkeeper Steven Croft, who has stepped in for injured Alex Davies and rested Jos Buttler.

Jarvis then had Alex Lees, Gary Ballance and Jack Leaning caught in the slips before Wagner trapped Gale lbw for an innings-high score of 36.

Adil Rashid, who has reached 6,000 first-class career runs this morning, is 38 not out, with Tim Bresnan on two.

Andrew Hodd was awarded his county cap before play this morning by Yorkshire president John Hampshire.
