TIMOTHEE Dieng feels so much at home at Valley Parade that he wants to join in with the songs.

The midfielder is set to make his first City start tomorrow against Oldham – the club where he played the last two years.

Having recovered from the calf injury that delayed his start to the season, Dieng cannot wait to hear the entrance music as the teams come out.

He said: “I really like the song when we come on the pitch about Midland Road.

“When I first heard it, I thought ‘that is cool’. It makes you want to do well.

“I will be singing along ‘Take Me Home’ tomorrow but only in my head!

“The Oldham fans were amazing with me last year. We had a difficult season but they were always behind the team.

“But here it is different with 18,000 people. It is an amazing feeling.”

Dieng has come on as a late sub in the last two games and is eager to play a bigger role as City chase a fourth straight win. With Tony McMahon out, Danny Devine could switch to right back to accommodate his return in the middle.

Dieng added: “Obviously I was very disappointed to miss the start of the season but I’m fit now and looking forward to playing.

“I feel good and don’t have a problem with my calf any more so I can play 90 minutes.

“It’s been a very good start and everybody is happy in training. We’ll work hard to keep the momentum.

“I’m not surprised it’s going well because we have quality in the team, even with a lot of injuries. We want to stay unbeaten as long as possible.”

Dieng played 68 times for the Latics after they signed him from French club Stade Brest in 2014. But they are likely to be a very different line-up to the one he left in the summer.

“It’s going to be very special for me after I spent two years there,” he said.

“I learned English football at Oldham, the high-tempo, physical type of game and I think I improved there.

“They had an option to keep me and didn’t take it. But I don’t think I’ve got anything to prove.

“It’s a new team, a new start and I’m happy to be here.

“They have made a lot of signings it’s a totally new squad. There might be just a couple of starters I know, maybe Brian Wilson, Jake Cassidy or Lee Croft.”

Stuart McCall, who watched Oldham’s EFL Cup exit at Preston on Tuesday, feels his own squad have been refreshed from the free midweek after being knocked out in the first round.

The Bantams chief said: “It’s good that the lads have been able to recharge the batteries. Again we’re a bit thin on the ground this week with injuries so we’ve not been able to do a lot of contact work.

“But it’s benefitted the lads who have played a lot of football and they are raring to go for tomorrow.

“We’ve picked up a few injuries with players who have had to play, whereas at another time we might have pulled them out if we’d had a bigger squad.”

Matt Kilgallon could be in the squad and McCall also hinted that Stephen Darby may be involved against Stoke under-23s next Tuesday after the skipper and Rory McArdle took part in the ball work at training yesterday.

McCall added: “Darby and McArdle are really good pros and do everything spot on. Whatever they are asked, they do it to the maximum.

“It’s good for everyone that they’ve joined in because they add that bit of quality.”

McCall was impressed with Oldham’s efforts against Championship opposition and anticipates another test of patience for his side.

“Oldham matched Preston and were very unfortunate not to take it to extra-time because they looked solid.

“They have been very resolute defensively but not scored many goals.

“But I also know in Lee Erwin, who I gave a debut to at Motherwell, they have a technically very good player. Little (Billy) McKay up front has also scored a lot of goals in Scotland so they have threats.”
